Sevice Tax on incentive received from newspaper

28 May 2011 An advertising agency has received incentive from newspaper for achieving certain turnover. No bills were raised by the agency. Newspaper had paid the incentive through Debit Note. The agency has no say in choosing a particular newspaper for placing advt of its clients. is the agency required to deposit service tax on the incentive amount. This incentive is apart from the 15% commission being recd from newspapers being an accrediated agency.

01 June 2011 Your services are subject to service tax and you are also regularly paying the service tax.

The question of paying service tax on the incentive paid by New Paper for achieving target is also liable for service tax as the same is an additional consideration for the service/s provided by you
