27 March 2010 80E Deduction in respect of interest on loan taken for higher education

"(e) relative, in relation to an individual, means the spouse and children of that individual or the student for whom the individual is the legal guardian."


Whether the deduction available in this section can be claimed for one child or more than one child ?

27 March 2010 Deduction available only to Individual not to HUF or other type of Assessee.


Loan should have been taken for the purpose of pursuing higher studies of Individual , Spouse, Children of Individual or of the student of whom individual is legal Guardian.






27 March 2010 Repayments of education loan NOT covered under Section 80C.
