31 January 2014 can a employee claim deduction U/S 80D for Group Medical Insurance provided by employer. If the 20%/80% of premium amount paid by employee for Self/Family insurance.

31 January 2014 There is no bar for relief under Sec. 80D because group scheme is not barred. A certificate from the employer should be adequate proof for the claim.

31 January 2014 Any mediclaim policy taken on payment through cheque only is allowed as deduction up to maximum Rs. 15,000/-. In case of senior citizen it is 20,000/-. Now, if you have made the payment of the policy through your employer to the extent of 80% attributable to your salary then up 15,000/- or actual payment less then 15000 shall be allowed to you.


31 January 2014 There should be actual deduction of Mediclaim premium from your salary also.
