This query is : Resolved

17 April 2020 If shares split into two each in FY 2019-20 what will be the FMR for calculating LTCG as there was only one share on 31/01/2018.

ex. If HDFC shares split in FY 2019-20
I have 100 shares which were purchased in 2017. What will be the FMR od Shrars if i sell 50 of them in FY 2020-21?

thank you

24 April 2020 Calculation will be done on the basis of number of shares held by you post split. E.g. Holding 10 Shares @50 totaling Rs. 500. Post split number of shares 20. So your original cost of holding 1 shares is Rs. 25 (500/20). Similarly you have to divide FMV on 31/01 with ratio of split.
