In view of the amendment of Schedule I, to the Indian Stamp Act 1899, the one-rupee stamp is required to be affixed on any receipt, the amount or value of which exceeds Rs 5,000. This amendment has come w.e.f. 10.09.04. The stamp is required to be affixed in respect of receipt which has been defined as under in Section 2(23) of the aforesaid Act. Sir.. in your above reply you have mentioned that 1 rupees stamp will be affixed on any Receipt exceed 5000/- however some doubt is arise as follow, (1) if stampt is to be affixed on receipt if exceed 5000, that means No Need to be affixed 1 rupees stamp on salary Voucher payment of salary thereon.. right, (2) if i have not affixed stamp on receipt exceed 5000 from debtor then will IT deptt Will accept this said transaction or not, (3) only 1 rupees stampt will be affixed even on receipt of 10000 or more then 10000,

you have to affix Rs. one stamp on payment of rs. 5000/- or more , but as per income tax act you cannot pay any payment to single person more than Rs. 20000/- in a day. if you pay for exp. more than rs. 20000 in day then exp will be disallowed.

But sir above CA Ak nandan has suggested That affix one rupees stamp will be on Receipt not on payment if exceed 5000,
