Is the guest house maintained by a company falls in the definition of Hotel as defined under new Perquisities rules dated 18th dec'09? The definition is as below:
Hotel includes an accommodation licensed by local authority to provide for boarding and lodging like a motel, service apartment or guest houses.
I shall be grateful If the clarification is provided at the earliest before 31st march2010.

Dear Ramesh, thanks for your interest in resolving my problem.yes I am asking the accomodation value.
to rephrase my question : whether Company guest house is covered under the definition of hotel as prescribed under explanation 10 (ii) of the new perks rules notified on 18.12.09? The definition of hotel is
(iii) hotel includes licensed accommodation in the nature of motel, service apartment or guest house;
My feel is that here a guest house licenced by local authority is covered & not the guest house which is maintained by a company for its business purposes.note the word "Licenced" is the key word.

If company is providing you any accomadation free of charge or concessional rate, whether in form of house or guest house, must be trated as your perk.

Thanks Arun, The case is that the employee has been transfered to another place & staying in cos guest house.
If it is to treated as perk than under what rule as present rule 3 covers only hotel or accomodation licenced by local authority such as guest house, motel etc.
