20 April 2010 I have query on Form No.16A. I worked for a pvt. co. on salary basis during the year 2009-10 .I worked there from 1Aug to 30 Nov.I leave that job & joined another from 1 Dec.The prev. employer has deducted aTax. on salary given to me he has issue me Form No. 16A.Under which head now I have to show this income. Business or Salary.I recd. 800000 for 4 month onwhich he deducted TDS @ 10 %. Pls guide me

20 April 2010 If form 16A received them show amount received as income from salary.

20 April 2010 I disagree with Aditya. Form 16A issued to persons other than employees.

Now in your case you have received the form 16A in which your ex-employer shown this as professional fees paid to you that means you can show this as income from business & can claim the expenses incurred during the full year. Expenses like travel expenses, telephone, internet and all other expenses which you feel is incurred to generate the said income.

My worry is that if you have appointment letter & then who can your employer issue you form 16A? Lets keep that apart.

20 April 2010 My mistake was in middle of somethin while replying. Income from business only.

Thanks soniji for correcting my reply
