Respected members, I am an american citizen.I had recently cleared my ipcc.My aim is to become a cpa.I would like to know if i should continue with articleship.. or should i go for someother alternative? What should be the type of the firm that i should select?
If i had completed ca..and if i return back to the us..should i do the cpa course from the start(including articleship) ??

The most confusing thing here is why are you doing Indian CA if you are an american citizen and want to go back. What I mean to say is, first you should have completed the CPA which would guarantee you a job in the US. The Indian CA course should have been secondary. Coming to the question, you may have to send the transcripts to the state authority where you reside in US. They will check and confirm if your existing qualification is equivalent to the 4 years bachelor degree in Accountancy in the US or not. Once confirmed, you can enroll in the CPA program. Plus you may have to fulfill the apprenticeship/ Internship criteria as per the state's requirements which may or may not consider your experience as an article in India.

Thank you sir.Well the fact is that i came to India a long back ago(probably 10 years ago).I continued my education here from 5th class. Then I chose to become a Ca.But as of now I just got a doubt running in my mind..& thanks to you sir,i had cleared my doubt.
I would like to complete ca here..and i would like to go the us & start doing cpa again ! Is there a better option for me instead of cpa?did i take a good decision?

If you want to continue in India then CA is a good option. But since you want to relocate to US in future, I would suggest to go for CPA as your primary option. Apart from this you can go for CFA or CMA which has good recognition not only in the US but worldwide.
