I need a clarification on the issue My client X & Co. purchases raw material(Steel rods)from local purchases or some times interstate. as X&Co., do not have its own mfg., unit, The said material is given to local work shop to make the material into some specific tool or machinery and the the finished tool or machinery is in turn sold in the name of X&Co.,
I would like to know if X&co., need to register under Central Excise Act and if yes please guide me under which provisions of the Central Excise Act

SSI exemption is available to all unit upto 1.5cr you need to registered with central excise after this turnover need to pay excise duty.
