Registration documentation as IEC holder on ICEGATE

This query is : Resolved

13 April 2020 Hello,

Can anyone please tell me is 'Self-attested scanned copy of License' in ICEGATE registration documentation same as IEC certificate?

Thank you.

10 July 2024 Yes, in the context of ICEGATE registration documentation, the 'Self-attested scanned copy of License' typically refers to the Importer Exporter Code (IEC) certificate.

The Importer Exporter Code (IEC) is a 10-digit identification number issued by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), Ministry of Commerce, Government of India. It is mandatory for any person or entity importing or exporting goods and services to or from India. The IEC certificate serves as a license for international trade and is essential for customs clearance purposes.

Therefore, when ICEGATE or any customs-related documentation requests a 'self-attested scanned copy of License', they are generally referring to the self-attested copy of your Importer Exporter Code (IEC) certificate. This document proves that you are a registered importer or exporter under Indian regulations.

To summarize, in ICEGATE registration documentation, you should provide a self-attested scanned copy of your IEC certificate when requested to submit a 'License'. This will help in completing your registration process smoothly for customs-related activities.
