first of all you have to proceed to a notary and get your new name as noted there. then you have to proceed to the district collector. then you have to apply for the state gazetteers through the general administration department. once your new name is published in the gazette, you have to give an advertisement in atleast three local newspapers for that effect. after that, you have to proceed for name change in each certificate to the respective board, viz, state board of secondary education for Xth class, Intermediate Board for Plus two certificate, respective university for degree and PG certificates. if you are married, you have to proceed to the registrar of marriages and district registrar of marriages for vetting your name on the marriage registration certificate along with the copies of the gazette notification and newspaper advertisement. this is a cumbersome procedure, takes money and more so time killing processes.
