Can anybody help me: if a person has purchased a residential flat in his own name and has started residing but at the same time paying rent for another rented house for his family,can he claims both the exemptions i.e. u/s 10(13) and HBL loan & interest u/s 80C & 24/1(b)respectively...if yes how long .....

NO, if he is living in his own flat and paying rent for his family only, then he can't claim HRA because 10(13A) is allowed for his own rent

if he purchased the home in other city and he is living on rent then he can claim both 10(13A) and 80C with 24(b) but you told that he is living in his own house and he is paying rent for family so 10(13A) will not be allowed
