I PAID RS 300000/- FOR THE OPERATION OF MY FATHER DURING F.Y 2012-13, NOW I AM FURNISHING MY I.T.R AND I AM CONFUSED ABOUT THIS AMOUNT WHETHRE THERE ARE ANY EXEMPTION IF I PAID FOR TREATMENT OF MY FATHER OR NOT.

EVEN MY FATHER RUNNING A PROPRIOTORSHIP FIRM SO IF HE RETURN MY THIS AMOUNT IN THAT CASE CAN HE TAKE BENEFIT OF THIS TYPE OF EXPENSES WHEN FURNISHING BALANCE SHEET AND P/L

PLEASE EXPLAIN WIHT EXAMPLE IF POSSIBLE.

12 August 2013 You can claim deduction if the amount was paid for any of the following diseases:

Neurological Diseases where the disability level has been certified to be of 40% and above,—
(a) Dementia ;
(b) Dystonia Musculorum Deformans ;
(c) Motor Neuron Disease ;
(d) Ataxia ;
(e) Chorea ;
(f) Hemiballismus ;
(g) Aphasia ;
(h) Parkinsons Disease ;
(ii) Malignant Cancers ;
(iii) Full Blown Acquired Immuno-Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) ;
(iv) Chronic Renal failure ;
(v) Hematological disorders :
(i) Hemophilia ;
(ii) Thalassaemia.

Deduction is NOT available in respect of any other treatment.

Further your father CANNOT claim deduction of the amount since the amount has NOT been specifically spent for business purpose.
