03 March 2011 Dear sir
we have purchased operating chairs & tables for workers who are involved in production inside the factory. is it to be treated as plant & machinery or furniture?
Rgds

03 March 2011 As I understand from your query, the tables and chairs are used in the process of production, so in my opinion you should treat it under the Plant & Machinery.

03 March 2011 It is to be treated as Furniture. Just because these are used inside factory it can not be treated as Plant & Machinery.

03 March 2011 obviously Plant & machinery

03 March 2011 Sanjay Bhaiya he is using the word "Operating" so this qualifies it in Plant & Machinery otherwise your view is absolutely correct.

03 March 2011 Correction...Sorry did notice the word operating...
Thanks Pulkit for correction.

04 March 2011 Thanks each one for your reply. the chairs are used by operators who are involved in the process of assembling & packaging the product. Just like tailor chair in a garment factory.

04 March 2011 If it is a simple chair without any mechanism involved it will be treated as furniture but if its an special kind of chair which is used in the production process then it will be treated as Plant & Machinery.
