is it essential(although not mandatory) for CA students to pursue side-courses like B.Com ?

This query is : Resolved

18 November 2007 It isn't a hidden fact from any of the fellow-members how tough it is to become
CA. But i have heard constantly that CA students pursue B.Com(mostly) also. This year in july, when i was in DU, i had seen CA students who had just enrlled in PCC , attending FSA for admission to B.Com course.

Is it that B.Com has to be done from big-branded colege or BCom of (ignou-icai) will work

18 November 2007 If you are CA then you are the BOSS. CAs have a different brand image. You will see the logo. It signifies brand, prosperity and corporate culture.
So BCOM which is an importnat degree becomes less important as compared to CA. I have no grudges neither I am insulting towards BCOM.
Infact ICAI itself has recommended IGNOU so for it is the students to understand. It will take five more years and IGNOU BCOM will become brand.
Do not worry.
My colleagues scored 80% in Class XII and I got 65.33%. They are on their shops and I became CA. All of us are friends. But remember that "You have to work hard when others sleep". Good Luck.

19 November 2007 My dear friend, B.com is not at all necessary. Generally students are pursuing it just to put themselves in a safe side. Otherwise, B.com. is not at all necessary.

Yes, but if in future you are planning to give compitive exams of IAS etc. then i think B.com. is required.

But, it all depends on you...

In both the side, if you are CA then not to worryyyy

19 November 2007 Hi Sushant,

I feel BCom(H) is the most essential degree for every individual. This is becoz in many courses imparted outside India, eligibility is based on the 15 years of academic qualification. Thus I feel you should not skip BCOM (Hons)and complete in line with your CAs. You are further informed to pursue your BCom(H) from the best institute as it will alwys be essential data in your Resume'.

19 November 2007 So, you mean “doing the 1 year course of B.Com(A&F of IGNOU-icai) will suffice; it wont pose a problem even if we skip it, coz the qualification CA itself weights many a ton in one’s qualification”.

19 November 2007 asda

19 November 2007 No problem at all. ICAI is the professional course. Other courses at that point have lost its significance when you think of graduation. Go for IGNOU. Do not worry. Good Luck.

19 November 2007 One CA can handle 10 projects but 10 projects cannot make one CA.

19 November 2007 IGNOU is better as it will allow you to do articleship, classes and studies.

22 November 2007 Do we need for
i)for admission for PCC
&
ii)for admission to ignou-bcom;

A)THE ORIGINAL MIGRATION CERTIFICATE (CLASS 12)
B)ATTESTED COPIES OF 12 CLASS MARKSHEETS by THE SCHOOL PRINCIPAL

24 November 2007 You will need proof of passing. If you have lost migration certificate then it is better you should file an affidavit for the same. It will help you in future.
