first of all thank q for such question, i asked my sir the same question and he replied :
the articleship is the only way you can put your book knowledge in practicality, meant if you read book how to Swim but dnt try ever evn to jump in water then how would you be able yo know hw deep it is.
just in same way book is only the overview but articleship is the deep knowledge of what ever we learn frm books,
and nw coming to the question of the imporatance among both of them just rememer in exams if you knw wht is practicality of the perticuler point then you would be easily able to recall what ever you have read in books.
so dont feel like jail , just enjoy evry moment in office, you knw after the conversation of this topic with sir, i just love my Profession and i relly miss my office.........
so keep enjoying and good luck hope you wont kill me ..

thnk u so mch for replyng sir bt the question comes again shall we give our 100 % in artclshp so as to gain to th maximum bt if that happens then we r nt left for nytym to study ... is it jus jus practical knowledge on one side or jus jus studies on one side ...
As per my opinion both are different or 2 different stages for a journey called CA. At the first stage study comes which gives you knowledge about how to do a certain thing, how to react as an auditor. After study the next stage is articleship which tells you how to actually perform a certain work.
So only bookish knowledge is not enough to succeed in life. There are lot of practical things in life which we have to learn.
First we must understand the concept of articleship and analyse the need to introduce the system of articleship in Chartered Accountancy course.
All you need to do is calculate the necessity of articleship in your life keeping in view your future growth.
So in this way both are imp for becoming a good CA.
