We have a client (Regd as Trust) in West Bengal and want to apply for Tax exemption Certificates from IT dept. Do we have to process these in West Bengal or can we apply for tax exemption certificates from where we are located i.e. Hyderabad.

You have to got your trust registered u/s. 12A of the income tax Act.File simultaneous application for registration u/s. 80G. File the application in Form No. 10A in 3 copies alongwith;
1. 3 years audit report
2. copy of memorandum
3. Copy of registration certificate under trust act.
4. List of trustees, alongwith their addresses.
5. Brief summary of activity carried out by trust in last 3 years.
6. PAN Xerox, copy of ITR filed for last 3 years.
7. Copy of photographs of events held.

08 June 2009 You will have to apply with the Commissioner of Income Tax where the registered office of trust is situated.


08 June 2009 Thanks sir. Therefore I can not apply for this from Hyderabad office as the trust is registered in West Bengal.
