Income tax benefit on medical bill

20 January 2012 Suppose a person had incurred some medical expenses for hospitalization etc. and he had paid Rs 25000/-. On payment he got the reimbursement from the company. Can income tax benefit on Rs 25000/- be allowed two him in two financial years? One Rs 15000/- in first financial year second Rs 10000/- in another financial year?

20 January 2012 Medical exp are allowed on paid basis the year the assess has incurred the expenditure. C/f of med exp is not allowed.

20 January 2012 Mr Vikash let us take a practical case.

Mr X an employee incurred medical expense worth Rs 25000 in financial year1. He had been reimbursed by the company Rs 25000/- against declaration. He had submitted bill worth Rs 15000/- in year1 and take income tax benefit of Rs 15000/- in year1. In year2 he had been reimbursed Rs 25000/- and he had submitted bill of Rs 10000/- for last year's unclaimed expense and Rs 5000 for this year expense. In year2 will he be debarred in getting benefit of Rs 15000/-. If "yes", where is the restriction in law?
