09 February 2017 I get rs. 10000 every month from my employer and i pay rs. 2200 as rent on company provided quarter to me every month. Shall i claim for any rebate for rent paid to employer through payroll?

09 February 2017 being an employee if you are taking HRA then you can claim exemption U/s10(13A) as under: The least of the following three will be taken to exempt from tax: 1.HRA received from your employer 2.Actual rent paid minus 10% of salary 3. 40% of basic salary (50% in case if you live in metro city i.e. mumbai/delhi/Kolkata/Chennai non exempted portion of allowance will be taxabe as part of the salary

10 February 2017 i m not very much clear with this reply. Pl calculate the amount which i can claim for saving income tax. thanks

10 February 2017 condition for exemption of house rent allowance:
1) rent is paid actually by you and it is related to same period for which you received HRA
2)you do not own any resistance in the city of your employment
3) exemption will be least of the following :
actual allowane Rs.10000;or
rent paid-10%of your salary (basic+d.a.if any);
40%of salary(basic+d.a.if any)
if you provide details of your basic salary, dearness allowance, city where u live , hra paid by employer and rent paid by you then i can calculate the exemption.
