16 July 2012 I am currently pursuing math(H) from DU & want to become an actuary. How should I go about it? What is the process of becoming an actuary? How should i be studying & from where should i be studying? All the feedbacks will be appreciated.

16 July 2012 Hi,

Being an actuary is the best thing can happen to anybody's career. It is most rewarding career worldwide. However for entry into this field requires lot of dedication and hard work. The criteria for entry as a student member is:
1. For a Maths Graduate: 55% in all subjects classified as mathematical subjects taken together for all 3 years
2. the medium of instruction should be English.

There are 4 levels of study:
1. CT Series - 8 papers
2. CA Series - 1 Paper
3. ST Series - 2 papers
4. SA Series - 1 Paper

For becoming a fellow member you need to pass all 4 series, whereas to become an associate you need to pass the first 3 levels.

Shashank.

16 July 2012 Sir,thank you for your guidance. Do i have to clear ACET before i can sit for the other exams? Can i enroll myself somewhere in order to get proper coaching for these papers?

17 July 2012 I am not updated on this, but I think the Actuarial Society of India has started this exam as a common entrance exam for entry into Actuarial Profession. You can get more details on Actuarial Society of India Website.

As far as the coaching is concerned, there are very few institutes available. (Details not with me). You can find them in Delhi and Mumbai. You can google for this. There is an institution called Trump and Gates in Delhi. You can search about this.
