I know that the circular 5/2011 states that if the house rent is more than 15,000 per month, pan number of the landlord needs to be published in the house rent receipts.
My landlord has given me the PAN number but he is not ready to give the photocopy of the PAN card. Please let me know if photocopy of the PAN card is mandatory along with the receipts? I need to provide this as an investment proof to my finance person in the company.

The circular states that, in case the rent is more than 180000/- per annum, you need to report the PAN number of the Landlord to the employer.
So legally speaking, even the PAN number is sufficient. But then the circular also says that its the responsibility of the DDO to satisfy himself about the accuracy of the documents submitted by employee.
In my view, even if your landlord is giving a copy of his PAN card, request him show the same to you. Just take a note of his DOB, NAME etc details on his card. You can yourself find the PAN details on : http://www.incometaxindia.gov.in/home.asp By quoting your landlord's details.
I think, with that printout, your employer will be more that satisfied.
