27 July 2024 To obtain a GST registration for your new company, especially if you have recently been formed and are looking to apply for a fresh GST registration, follow the steps below:

### **Steps to Obtain GST Registration for Your New Company**

#### **1. **Preparation Before Registration:**

- **Verify Business Structure:** Ensure you have all necessary details about your company structure, including PAN, business address, and authorized signatories.
- **Gather Required Documents:** Prepare all the required documents (listed below).

#### **2. **Gather Required Documents:**

**For Companies:**

- **PAN Card:** PAN card of the company.
- **Certificate of Incorporation:** Certificate of incorporation issued by the Registrar of Companies (ROC).
- **Memorandum of Association (MOA) & Articles of Association (AOA):** MOA and AOA of the company.
- **Business Address Proof:** Office address proof with rent agreement or utility bills.
- **Board Resolution:** A resolution from the Board of Directors authorizing the person applying for GST registration.
- **Bank Statement:** Latest bank statement or passbook.
- **Photographs:** Passport-sized photographs of the authorized signatory.

**For Other Entities (e.g., Proprietorships, Partnerships):**

- **PAN Card:** PAN card of the entity and all partners or proprietor.
- **Aadhaar Card:** Aadhaar card of all partners or proprietor.
- **Business Address Proof:** Same as for companies.
- **Partnership Deed (for Partnerships):** Copy of the partnership deed.
- **Bank Statement:** Latest bank statement or passbook.
- **Photographs:** Passport-sized photographs of all partners or proprietor.

#### **3. **Online GST Registration Process:**

**a. **Visit GST Portal:**
- Go to the [GST Portal](https://www.gst.gov.in/).

**b. **Sign Up / Login:**
- Register for a new account or log in if you already have one.

**c. **Submit Application:**
- Select **"Services"** from the top menu, then click **"Registration"** and select **"New Registration"**.

**d. **Fill Out the Application:**
- **Part A:** Enter basic details such as legal name of the business, PAN, email ID, and mobile number. This will generate an OTP for verification.
- **Part B:** After verification, log in and complete the registration form by providing details like business address, nature of business, bank account details, etc.

**e. **Upload Documents:**
- Upload the required documents as mentioned earlier.

**f. **Submit Application:**
- Once all details are filled and documents are uploaded, submit the application.

**g. **ARN Generation:**
- After submission, you will receive an Application Reference Number (ARN) for tracking.

**h. **Verification:**
- GST authorities will review the application and documents. They may request additional information or documents if necessary.

**i. **GSTIN Issuance:**
- If the application is approved, you will receive your GST Identification Number (GSTIN) and a GST Registration Certificate.

#### **4. **Additional Considerations:**

- **Timeline for Registration:** GST registration typically takes a few weeks, but it’s best to apply as early as possible to avoid any delays in starting your business operations.
- **Consult a Professional:** If you encounter any issues or need assistance with the registration process, consider consulting a GST advisor or tax consultant.
- **Compliance:** Ensure that you comply with all GST regulations once registered, including filing regular returns and maintaining proper records.

#### **5. **Handling the Transition:**

Since your company is newly formed and has been running under a different entity’s tax licenses:

- **Close Previous Licenses:** Ensure that the previous GST registration (if any) is properly closed or transferred, as needed.
- **Communicate with Authorities:** If there are any specific issues or concerns due to the change in registration status, communicate with the GST authorities to clarify and resolve them.

By following these steps and preparing the necessary documentation, you can obtain a GST registration for your new company and ensure compliance with GST regulations.
