Financial controllers are usually CPAs with multiple years experience in financial accounting. They must have excellent communication skills, strong software knowledge and experience, and be detail oriented. Strong supervisory skills are usually needed, also. Financial controllers need to be current with regulations affecting the industry and effects upon the company. They need to be knowledgeable about company procedures and compliance issues.
