I am using Tally9 Multi user accounting package, When preparing accounting reports from Trial Balance, I tried to design a excel sheet that will fetch data from text file generated from tally9 in text format having
Head of account Dr amount Cr Amount
I am using powertools addin to remove n leading character to remove (-) symbol infront of debit balances.
When other users create a ledger accounts at their own, I can't resist them to create that but my excel template created by fails to show whether that head of account is matches with correct ledger account with respective ledger amount. Whenever I use Tools -> Get External data will update the accounting reports, shows some error.
I came to know that lookup, match will be helpful but I dont know how to use it

First of all, I export a TB on 31-08-08 as text file, then open excel, Data->Get External Data->Import from Text File, now I got a TB in excel, then I prepare final accounts. On 30-09-08, again I export a TB in text file in the same name. Then Open the existing excel file, Data-> !Refresh Data, the final accounts are updated. If I tried to export the same using ODBC Server, I got the data upto last entry, in the following format Parent Group-- Ledger A/c -- Amount. How to fetch data to particular date, using ODBC. Incase I use alphabetical TB in excel format (Tally9 R2.13),in next sheet linked the first page for each ledger a/c, then sorting groupwise by adding one more column to first worksheet CA, CL, FA, PRO for grouping. At this point, vlookup, match, index functions are useful, but I wish to know how? Please help me. Also how to attach my excel file

If any changes in first sheet of excel will affect second adjusted TB, If I using sorting the group of current assets merged with other group of ledger accounts. ie., Col A Col B Col C Current Assets Cash xxxxx.xx Loans BOB a/c xxxxx.xx
the above accounts are changed alphabetically. At this point, vlookup, match, index functions are useful, but I wish to know how? =index(match(firstsheet,0) something like that. I don't know Please help me
