Education Cess & Surcharge on MAT

01 October 2010 I wana to ask, whether Surcharge and Educatiion will be applicable on Income tax calculated under MAT.

If not applicable then in Which section it is mentioned

and From which FY MAT credit starts.

01 October 2010 Yes, both surcharge & education cess will be applicable on MAT.

However, if the book profit is not crossing 1 crore then there will be no surcharge, only edu. cess will be there.

01 October 2010 but while submitting ITR-6, when we click on Calculate tax, then it not calculated Cess or Surcharge on ITax calculated under MAT provision
