Yes, the CBDT has extended the due date for filing the audit report under Section 44AB of the Income Tax Act from 30th September to 30th November. However, it's important to clarify a few points based on your query:
1. **Extension of ITR Filing Due Date**: The extension of the due date to 30th November applies specifically to the filing of the tax audit report (Form 3CD) and not to the filing of the income tax return (ITR). As of the latest information, the due date for filing the ITR for taxpayers whose accounts are required to be audited (including companies and certain other taxpayers) remains 30th September of the assessment year.
2. **Filing ITR with Tax Audit Report After 30th September**: If you file the tax audit report after 30th September but on or before 30th November, you can file the ITR along with the audit report. This means that your ITR filing will be considered valid if submitted by the extended due date of 30th November.
3. **Revision of ITR**: Yes, if you file the ITR along with the tax audit report by the extended due date of 30th November, and later you find any errors or discrepancies, you can still revise your ITR. The income tax laws allow for revision of ITR within a specified time frame if there are mistakes or changes that need to be corrected.
4. **Consequences of Late Filing**: It's important to note that filing the ITR after the original due date of 30th September (but within the extended due date of 30th November) may attract interest and penalties if there is any tax liability. Therefore, it's advisable to file the ITR along with the tax audit report by the original due date or as soon as possible within the extended due date to avoid unnecessary charges.
