Div on pref. shares

This query is : Resolved

27 May 2013 Some companies are issuing Pref. Shares presently in the market coupon rate of 8.33%
This is tax-free in the hands of investor.
If we assume that DTC will be passed such as per final draft, will this i.e. Div. on pref. shares will become taxable in hands of investor?

Please advice

Pankaj Ajmera

27 May 2013 it is either one, it can't be taxable under both hands.
