Deduction for Tuition Fees

10 February 2009 Deduction of Tuition fees paid is allowed u/s 80C, but it is with the condition that the course should be full time.
So, my query is, whether a person doing part time MBA or Executive MBA cannot claim benefit of fees paid?
or there is anyother wayout to claim the deduction for the fees paid?

10 February 2009 Section uses the language fee paid for full time course. Therefore if you are doing any part time course you are not eligible for the same.

However if you are doing exeuctive MBA wherein the course has been desinged in such a way that you attend regularly for certain number of hours like college or institution and then you write exams after one year you can cliam the deduction.

Here the test you should apply is not the time allocated but the system follwed by the institute for the course.

12 February 2009 Thanks for a reply.
can you through some more light on the term "Full time course".
As if a person doing part time MBA wherein he required to attend the lectures and also need to give exam after that, Still because the name is Part time MBA, he can not take a benefit?
or he should expense it out?
