06 July 2024 When negotiating your salary for a similar profile in a new job, here are some considerations:

1. **Market Research**: Research the current salary trends for professionals with your experience and responsibilities in your location (Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore).

2. **Salary Expectation**: Given your experience and responsibilities, aiming for a higher CTC than your current Rs. 7 lakhs is reasonable. Factors such as inflation, industry standards, and your specific skills and accomplishments should influence your request.

3. **Gratuity in CTC**: Typically, gratuity is included as part of the Cost to Company (CTC) calculation. It's a statutory benefit that accrues based on your tenure with the employer. Ensure clarity on how gratuity is structured and calculated in your new employment offer.

4. **Negotiation Strategy**: Consider negotiating based on your value proposition, including your experience, skills, and the complexity of tasks you handle like GST filings and balance sheet finalization. Aim to align your salary expectations with the market rate for your level of expertise.

5. **Total Compensation Package**: Besides base salary, consider other components like performance bonuses, health insurance, retirement benefits, and any additional perks or allowances.

To determine a specific figure to request, you might want to consult with peers in similar roles or utilize salary benchmarking tools specific to the CA profession in India. This approach can help you gauge a realistic expectation and negotiate effectively.
