It is the total cost of transport required for tonnage transport for kms travelled.
For eg
If someone wants to transport 10 tonnes of material through any transport means lets say a truck for a distance of 100kms.
Suppose the total charges of Truck (including fuel, service charges, tolls, etc) are Rs5,000/-
Then we can say that the cost per tonne per km is 5000/10 tonnes/100 kms = Rs5/-
For eg
