No need to submit correspondence letter for bad debts. Writting off the debts in books of account is sufficient to claim bad debt in income tax. There are various case laws in this regard. Now this is a settled situation that if the assessee has written off the account of a debtor then it is sufficient to claim bad debts. No need to show that the assessee has made efforts to recover the debt. Explain to the A.O. regarding this.
