27 September 2013 Sir,

I have kept xerox machine at one company. I charge "x" amount per copy at the end of the month. Am I liable to pay any service tax?

28 September 2013 Yes, you have to pay the service tax. The amount of service on which yo are liable to pay service tax shall be according to your contract and cost of material if any used by you

28 September 2013 Sir,
If I do not show value of material (paper) in my invoice then does it make any difference to the company who awarded me this contract.
Thanks in advance.

30 September 2013 I charge neither vat nor service tax. I charge fixed amount per copy which includes paper cost as well as cost I bear for operator on monthly salary and my profit.

30 September 2013 You have to keep record of the paper and toner used for the services. You can charge the service tax after deducting the cost of toner and paper used by you to provide the service.

Alternatively, you bill toner and paper separately ad charge service tax on the balance amount.

Please check, on this transaction, VAT is also payable.

03 October 2013 Thanks for your valuable guidance.
But sir can you please tell me in case I don't charge any tax neither vat nor service tax then does it make any difference to the company on which I raise my invoice.
Can he raise any objection?

03 October 2013 so far service tax is concerned, they should not take any objection as they do not run in to any risk.
Regarding VAT they may be right in taking objection as it may be, as per the law of the State, treated as URD purchase on which they are liable to pay the VAT
