Categories of Investors

23 January 2010 Plz clear the meaning of OCB's & HNI's categories of investors. And if there are any other categories also, make them clear.

23 January 2010 OCB means Overseas Corporate Bodies i.e. the investment by foreign companies.

HNI means High Networth Invenstors i.e. the persons who invest in certain lakhs of rupees.

OCB are always HNI but HNI may not be OCB.


23 January 2010 Sir, what is the difference between OCBs and FIIs, both are foreign investors ?


25 January 2010 OCBs and FII both are foreign investors.

FII is certainly OCB but OCB need not be FII.

Foreign Institutional Investors is like LIC of India, Mutual Funds etc.(these are Corporate Bodies)

Well OCBs means Overseas Corporate Bodies.HNI means High Networth Individuals.There are certain restrictions on foreign investments.Other categories of investors include Venture Capital Funds or angel investors.They supply much needed capital to a start up venture not for interest but say for a share of profits in future.Private Equity Funds collect funds from rich individuals and make investments in companies.
