Notice u/s 142 (1)

Hi,

I have received a notice u/s 142 (1) for FY 2005-06, prior to which received intimation u/s 143 (1), wherein the AO has shown Nil Tax Payable / Receiveable.

So that means I have filed my returns for that financial year, then why is the notice issued to me.

Secondly, can any one else attend the hearing on my behalf in which case he necessarily be a Qualified CA or any other person can also attend the same on my behalf.

Also let me know if a Vakalatnama is required on stamp paper for some person to attend the same on my behalf or a plan simple authority letter will do.

standard costing

Standard hour for manufacturing two products M & N are 15hrs/unit & 20 hrs/unit respectively. Both products require identical kind of labour and standard wage rate per hour is Rs.5.In the year 2006, 10000 units or M & 15000 units of N were manufactured. The totals of labour hour actually worked were 450500 and actual wages bill cameto Rs.2300000.This include 12000 hours paid for @ rs.7/hrs and 9400 hours paid for rs.7.50/hrs, the balance had been paid at rs.5/hrs.Calculate labour rate variance, labour efficiency variance, labour cost variance

Experience in Articleship

Hi,
I am doing articleship since two years..... I want to work in equity research, risk management after becoming a CA....... I learned alot of things in articleship..... tax, Audit, Accounting, etc.............. But now, I am fed up........ Industrial training with the job profile i want is almost impossible to get.......... just go to office to complete 35 hrs per week as I am not at all interested in the profile we articles get.....
Is it worth doing articleship seriously anymore ?? I mean, I have already learnt alot...N since I dont want to pursue tax & audit, I might as well go there jsut for tp........

IATA air travel agent

How much amount is an IATA approved air travel agent liable to pay as service tax of a ticket?

Iata approved airlines (Air India,Jet,kingfisher)ticket has two components -
1.basic fare
2.taxes
Agent gets commission on basic fare.

Low Cost carriers (eg-Spice Jet,Indigo)gives transaction fee to agents.
