Dear Learned Members, please help me in the following issue: We would like to incorporate a Pvt. Ltd. company in India and one of the Directors who is a Shareholder as well is a NRI, I want to know to what extent (%) he can invest in the company (share capital being Rs.1 lac)and if any FDI norms apply. Thanks in advance for the advise.

It depends on the sector in which the company proposes to operate. Whether investment in such sector is allowed or prohibited or rectricted to % ceilings.
Also it depends on the method of investment by NRI, whether he wants to invest on repatriable basis or non repatriable basis

Thanks for the reply Sir, as of now we are looking only for the share capital amount (of Rs.50k) which he plans to put in for a Software Development Company. Please advise whether he can do it or is there a specific limit in share capital money being brought in by the NRI Director. This is only for the registration of the Company.
