Notarization is the certification of the genuineness of a document. A Notary Public is an officer appointed by the Court to certify the genuineness. Is it practical to expect the genuineness of signatures affixed to affidavit abroad by an Officer of the Court in India. Further, the Notary Public insists on the deponent to be known to some advocate or other and that advocate signs in the column "identified by me". This detailed procedure is not known to most people, because we hand over the document to an advocate or his clerk who gets all the procedures done.
An affidavit signed by two directors residing in the US has to be certified by persons there. All our consulates have such officer whose certification is equal to the certification by a Notary Public. After the certification by the Indian Mission abroad, the same may be notarised in India, if required.
