Shri Salman Khurshid launches the Hindi Website of Investor Education and Protection Fund and of the Ministry of Corporate Affairs
Shri Salman Khurshid, Minister for Corporate Affairs, here today launched the Hindi website of Investor Education and Protection Fund (IEPF), which is being administered by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs. The address of the website is: www.iepf.gov.in. It has been created to provide simple informational and educational content to the investors and also make investors aware of their rights and responsibilities in the language easily understood by them. Gradually, the website will be available in other languages also. Shri R. Bandyopadhyay, Secretary, Ministry of Corporate Affairs, was also present on the occasion.
This website is a part of various initiatives undertaken by the Ministry through the IEPF for spreading investor awareness and educating them on the risks, rights and responsibilities associated with different investment instruments. The Investor Education and Protection Fund (IEPF) has been established under Section 205C of the Companies Act, 1956 for promotion of investor awareness and protection of their interests. The Ministry has been reaching out to the investors with the message of making informed investment decisions through a number of methods. The Ministry has been undertaking multi-lingual print media campaigns for this purpose and this year the TV ad. Campaign is being started shortly. With the help of the three professional institutes and a number of NGOs engaged in investor awareness activities, the Ministry has been organizing investor awareness camps in different cities/towns of the country. In the current financial year, about 300 such camps were organized throughout the country and a target of at least 400 such camps has been kept for the next financial year.
