In a recent update issued by the Goods and Services Tax Network (GSTN) on October 4, 2024, businesses and taxpayers in Punjab and Uttarakhand can now conveniently make GST payments using UPI, Debit, and Credit Cards. This digital payment facility has been extended to 20 States and Union Territories across India, making the process more accessible and user-friendly for taxpayers.
Additionally, Canara Bank has been integrated as a new payment gateway for GST payments, enabling taxpayers to make seamless transactions through UPI and card-based payments. This addition is aimed at further expanding the range of digital payment options and ensuring smoother compliance with GST obligations.
The introduction of UPI and card payments for GST across more states highlights the government's commitment to promoting digital payments and improving ease of doing business. Taxpayers in Punjab and Uttarakhand can now benefit from faster, more secure, and convenient payment options, reducing the need for manual bank transfers or visits to physical branches.
As part of its ongoing efforts to streamline tax processes, the GSTN continues to modernize payment systems and enhance the overall user experience for taxpayers. With the integration of Canara Bank and the expansion of digital payment facilities, the tax payment process is expected to become more efficient and hassle-free.
