esteemed colleague,
I have no words to express (my sentiments to convey) my deep sense of thanks and gratitude to the hundreds and thousands of my CA friends who wrote and mailed me their heartfelt compliments and best wishes on unveiling the CA logo and launching the ICAI Co-Branded ICAI-ICICI Credit Card on 1st July, 2007.
Members have not only appreciated the design of the logo but have also admired a lot the colour combination – blue for the alphabets CA and green colour tick. To my utmost surprise but extreme happiness and pride it was a great feeling when I saw visiting cards and letterheads of many CAs in the first week of July itself. This really reflects and shows how proudly and eagerly our members have adopted the logo and felt so honoured by printing the same on their personal stationery and signboards also. A suggested guidelines on how to print such logo on cards, covers, letterheads are printed in the August issue of the Institute’s Journal and I request all the members to please follow the same to really create and develop our brand image.
Hon’ble members have also appreciated our move to provide Navy Blue colour striped jacket from a leading brand. As soon as the first lot is received the same will be distributed to various Regional Councils and Branches and I am sure members will proudly purchase the same and wear the same with dignity and status.
The ICAI delegation headed by me, visited France to augment and strengthen the bilateral relationship between French & Indian Accounting Profession. The Indian delegation had gone along with 14 Chartered Accountants from all across the country and this tour lasted from 9th till 11th July, 07. The delegation had met the two accounting institutes from France i.e, CSOEC & CNCC, wherein the way forward for extending the profession at either end was explored. The delegation also attended the seminar with the French Institute, which involved participation of Mr. Rene Ricol, Past President, IFAC and President, FEE. The delegation also had interactive session with the Capital and Banking regulators and the Indian Ambassador. I am specially mentioning this because as a President from Ahmedabad, I was extremely delighted to see that participants were from various cities like Jamshedpur, Vishakapatnam, Hyderabad, Chattisgarh, Raipur and Trichy other than Mumbai, Delhi etc. This shows that members at the small places are also so keen to get the feel of globalisation to have the first hand experience in foreign countries. Such kind of study tours help in enhancing the knowledge, broadening the vision and in turn improve the practice. My special compliments and salute to each one of them for so deeply involving themselves in this endeavour of the Institute.
So as to involve more members in this kind of activities and events, WTO Committee of the Institute is now planning to have some more study tours, one to Switzerland; another to Italy and then to China. Those members who are interested and keen to be a part of such study tours are requested to refer the Institute’s Journal and register themselves at the earliest to avoid the last minute rush and limitations of strength of the delegation.
As hon’ble members are aware, I had taken a conscious decision as the Vice President to accompany hon’ble President only for the visits to Regional Councils to meet Chairman of Branches and in few Regional or National Conferences. This year as a President, I thought it fit to take a decision that President-in-Office should visit Branches only when there are events like National Seminar or All India Conference etc. and address a large gathering and meet the fraternity at one place instead of visiting different Branches at different time conveying the same message. I am sure my all dear hon’ble Chairmen of Branches would appreciate this point and will support the efforts of the President and Vice President in discharging their duties and functions in the best interest of the Institute and the members at large.
At the end, therefore, let me repeat:
I Adore My Profession
I Salute My Institute
I Respect My Council
I am proud to be a Chartered Accountant
Yours sincerely
CA. SUNIL TALATI
President, ICAI
