For starting a Dairy Farm, you need to submit your proposal to the State Directorate of Animal husbandry and Veterinary Services.
Get your plans scrutinised and approved, for propewr living space for the animals, provision for removing the cow dung and draining the urine away from the living space of the animals
Adequate overhead cover and ventilation, fodder store, space for health check of the animal by veterinary Doctor or stockman, etc should be provided for.
. A separate nursery for calfs should be made by the time the calves begin to arrive.
There must be adequate grazing ground for the cattle, or enough arrangement for proper mix of green and dry fodder,and for the animals to walk around and stretch their limbs. Some Government Assistance for starting Dairy may be admissible in your state.You can chek that out. Have a regular arrangement with the local Vet. Dispensary or AH Hospital for regular Medical check up of the cows/Buffalos There should be provision for bathing the animals, and if there are buffalos, arrangements for pools to let the buffalos cool their body.
Make your milk sales locally, either delivery by cycles or vans,in the beginning. After a few months, apply to the State Directorate of Food Safety for permission to start a Milk Pasteurising and packaging plant. Obtain a separate Banl Loan for the Pasteurisation and Marketing activity. You will ned to have a sterilising Unit, and a chilling Unit. .You will then need a milk packing machine which will automatically weigh/measure the milk and seal the plastic cover/pouch, indicating the type /grade of milk, fat perecentage, quantity, date of packing and “Best Before… “ date , along withthe brand name of the Packed Milk.
Have the two Units registered with the Local Village Panchayat or Municipality, and also under the Shops an d Establishments Act. Once you grow to the size where you employ more people, you will need to register with the Labour Department also.
