Dear fiends,

Please advice what is the actual difference between Excise Invoice, Tax Invoice, & Commercial nvoice (i.e- Input is available on which document)

And which invoice are required to be furnished to the party.

Hi mohit, the basic difference between excise and commercial invoice is about details :

EXCISE INVOICE : It gives the entire details of tax as in if i'am purchasing goods from a trader 100 nos., but he had purchased 1000nos. from manufacturer. My excise invoice will show even the details regarding the no. of goods purchased by the trader which is 1000 nos. & excise duty charged to him by the manufacturer & of which same will be charged to me for 100 nos. i.e. the trader will recover excise of the same amt. from me which he had paid to the manufacturer. (These details of Trader are not shown on the commercial invoice.")

COMMERCIAL INVOICE :  The seller's bill of sale for the goods sold, specifying type of goods, quantity and price of each type and terms of sale.

TAX INVOICE: A document issued by a supplier which stipulates the amount charged for goods or services as well as the amount of Goods and Services on which tax payable.

Hi Dhiraj,

Thanks for your reply. Does this mean that only commercial invoice & tax invoice are required to be given to the party. Again will the party will take input on the basis of the tax invoice.

Please tell me which are the types of invoices used by manufacturing concern. I have to design vouchers for a manufacturing concern and i m confused which vouchers do they use and what are its contents?kindly attach samples if possible.
