I am purchasing raw materials and the supplier is charging freight charges in the bill. Should I deduct TDS on such freight charges paid to supplier?

Yes, deduct the tds under contractor category.

ya as per section 194C, u have to deduct tds @ 2% of bill if ur contract is above 50,000 and one time payment is above 20,000 rs

It appears to be a contract for purchase/sale and not a works contract. In my view, TDS not applicable.

tds not applicable. fright chgs included in the puchase value..no works contract involved.

Since TDS is applicable on gross value of invoice, now question is whether TDS applicable or not, this is totaly depend on nature of transection. if this is only purchase no TDS is applicable but if it invoile service also like instaltion or any job work then it comes under work contract and TDS as well as WCT both are applicable.
