Tax treatment of eps pension

  1. I am a retired senior citizen and e-file Income Tax Return regularly.
  2. I am receiving EPS pension from EPFO due to my past service based on an earlier relationship of an agreement of service with my erstwhile employer.
  3. My erstwhile employer contributed to the EPFO pension fund while I was in service.
  4. My queries are :
  • Whether EPS pension can be declared under the head "Income from Salary".
  • If so, whether "Standard Deduction" will be applicable.
  • Since EPFO has not deducted at source, filling " Tax Details" page is necessary.
