repayment of housing loan

pls tell....

1) if suppose husband's salary is on higher side & wife's salary is on lower side & husband is named first in the loan application & wife is named as 2nd. now, since, loan instalment is cut from husband's salary, though the wife is a co-owner, she can not claim deduction u/s. 80C. Is it right?

2) Suppose, wife pays in the loan A/c or gives to husband say Rs. 3000/- monthly as "her loan instalment" to the bank or financial institution from whom loan is taken, then such bank or financial institution can give a letter for acceptance of the instalment apart from husband's loan instalment & on the basis of such letter, can  the wife at the same time, claim deduction u/s. 80C for housing loan repaymentfor getting the tax benefit while husband is claiming ded. u/s.80C independently in his return as loan instalment is cut from his salary)?

thanks in advance

if such letter qualify as intrument as payment towards principal payment then yes she can claim !! 80C deduction is individual basis and can be claimed in both accounts subject to criteria that payment is paid towards housing loan "principal" repayment
