Effective from 1st April 2009, professional tax slabs has been revised in Karnataka, I would like to share the details.

W.E.F.1-04-2009, Employees drawing salary upto Rs9,999/-Per Month are exempted from payment of Professional Tax.The existing slab w.e.f.1-04-2009 is as below:

1.Rs10,000.00/-to Rs14,999/--Rs150/-
2.Rs.15,000/- and above Rs200/-

I think Professional tax is  calculated on the GROSS SALARY (Wait for others replies)................

Dear Ajith,

Above rates are related to Karnataka state only and may i know from which state you are........

Dear Ajith,

Below rates are related to Maharastra Govt.........

Maharashtra Govt, has amended Profession Tax Act wef 1.7.2009 and changed P. Tax slabs are as follows.

Monthly gross salary do not exceed Rs.5000/- P Tax Rs. Nil

Monthly gross salary exceed Rs.5001 but do not exceed Rs.10000/- P Tax Rs.175/- pm.

Monthly gross salary exceed Rs.10000/- P Tax Rs.200/- pm and in Feb Rs.300/- pm

Dear Ajit,

Irrespective of the monthly salary (actually recd) the payment for the professional Tax will be paid as per chart given by Vijaya kumar.
