I have applied for PAN recently and my first name alphabet starts with "S" but the IT dept has alloted me with "K" for the Fifth Alphabet as my PAN.
Is this right or should i go for rectification?

Your Surname will be Fifth Letter of your PAN.
in your case, K stands for Kandan. hence, the use of that letter.

We need to be happy that PAN has been allotted. However there is no need to rectify the PAN, unless you have given any false infomarion while applying. If by mistake you have provided wrong information, please do go ahead and get it rectified.
Another suggestion is that, it is always better if you give your full name for printing on PAN card. This would help you at the time of applying for DIN, where it is mandatory to have full name along with abbreviations of initials.
