Dear Trainee,
In case his Gross Total Income i.e income before giving any deduction u/s 80C & 80TTA does not exceed 2,50,000/- Rs. then there is no requirement of filing the ITR.
The Income Tax Department can issue the notice for non filing of return. But u can reply that since his GTI does not exceed taxable limit so he is not required to file the ITR.
In case you want to file his ITR then you can file it online as well as manuaaly depends on your choice. However, I will advise you to file it online only.
Regards
Rohit Gupta

There is no obligation to file the ITR if the income is below the taxable limit, presuming your grandfather to be of 60 years plus, Rs. 250,000 in case.
Department shall not issue any kind of notice, unless it has certains information from AIRs filed by different banks /institutions.
In normal course, you will not receive any notice, even if you do, you simply claim that you donot have taxable income in the respective assessment year and hence not under any obligation to file the ITR.

Well there is nothing to worry at all.
1. Firstly you said that you are filing your grandpa's return for the last two years and his income is below the Taxable Limit.
Please note that Tax is to be paid on Income and when your Gross Total Income is below the Taxable Limit the Assesse is under no obligation to file his Income Tax Return.
Definately the Department has a record of your Grandpa's age and his Last Two Income tax Return.
2. There is 200% chance that you wont be served with any such notices from Income Tax Department as such notices are usually sent to the assess who have a track record of paying high taxes every year.
