Industrial Training - Pros & Cons

Hi all,

It would be of great help if somebody can let me know about the pros & cons of industrial training.

I'm under CPT scheme. Under this scheme we can take up final only after articleship. So during my articleship period i'll have to start attending classes for final. If i join for industrial training will i get time to attend classes or are we over worked there?
Secondly how important is the experience that we gain during Industrial Training? Does it add on more credit during recruitments?
Or is it better suggested to stick to a Audit Firm because i dont get to hear many people joining for Industrial Training?
How many days of leave am i eligible to take up during my articleship?wat is the criteria for it?

Hope to some advice in this regard..

during articleship one is allowed leave of 1/7 of the total articleship period

@ anil

this is wat i was able to comprehend from ur message..u mean to say for evry 7 working days we can take 1 day leave..i undergo 3 1/2 yrs of articleship training.. does it mean that i can take 182 days of leave which come up to almost 6 months??kindly correct me if i'm wrong..

Hi Anjali,

This is Sameer. I am currently doing industrial training.Answer to your ques. are:

Ans-1 It depends on the organisation totally and your relationship with you boss.Yes you can get time for classes.Normally the workpressure is less as compared to middle and high level CA firms.

Ans-2 If you are planning to join industry after completing your ca, then IT is definitely a Plus because industries would more likely prefer industry exp.

Ans-3 Working with audit firms sets a base for you and if you are working in any of the Big 4, then i would not advice you to go for IT Otherwise IT is a Gooood option.The Reason why many people do not join IT is because of some silly regulations of ICAI on IT.

Ans-4 As mentioned by a buddy above, 1/7 of the period served i.e 182 days in 3 1/2 years of articleship.

Thanks a lot..ur answers were of great help and has cleared out a lot of my confusions.. :)

So if we go for IT and the employer denies to give timings for classes we'll be stuck there..quite risky is it not?

And bout the leave days many of firms dont agree to give that much of leave even tough we are eligible for it.wat can be done about it?

Hi Anjali,

Yes, if the employer denies,then it is obvious... but it is same in normal articleship.What i would suggest you is that if you are going for IT ,you can negotiate the timings at the time of interview(not upfront) and even companies give exam holidays too which can also be negotiated while interview.So, don't loose heart, it is Possible.

About your query on leave eligiblity, let me tell you that this is an upper limit and articles can persuade their principal for the Eligible leaves.However if you decide to get your leaves forcibly, Practically speaking it would strain your relationship with your boss and i hope you understand the aftermaths.

Finally, If you are going for IT, Do some reasearch on the companies offering IT like companies Profile,Your propective profile,whether it is a 5 day or 6 days a Week and the most important thing stiiiiipend!

THIS QAULITIES U CAN LEARN FROM CA ONLY.....

A LOT OF STORAGE...AND TIME BARRED DATES OF FILING....WORK PRESSURE....AND PROPER PLANNING....CO-ORDINATION....EVERYTHING./....CA HAS.....THIS NOT JUST INBUILT OR GOD GIFTED BUT.,....HE CREATES HIMSELF...IN ITS OWN......

AS ACCORDING TO ME CA CAN STAND IN ANY FIELD AND MAKE HIS WAY OUT...AS NOT LIKE MBA....
