Indians seem to be America's favourite talent when it comes to cost accounting

Express News Service CHENNAI: Indians seem to be America’s favourite talent when it comes to cost accounting. Behrang Seraj, vice-consul, US embassy, said in his speech at the modular training programme for intermediate students at the ICWAI, that more job opportunities will be open for Indian cost accountants as, from this year on, members of the Indian Cost and Management Society will automatically become members of its US equivalent, Institute of Management Accounting. “This will open up great avenues for the Indians,” said Behrang Seraj. “According to a recent Indo-US agreement to catapult India’s employment and economical growth, coupled with the dwindling human resources in the US, more job opportunities are awaiting Indian talent. While this is reason to celebrate, there is much concern over the global transition to International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) – will ICWAI pass outs be out of fashion? “As global financial standards change, so will the course materials for the ICWAI, making the candidates equipped with IFRS standards too,” explains P Raju Iyer, Regional Council Member, SIRC – ICWAI.
