Indian as for ca final-should we read the entire text of as?

For CA FInal Nov 2016- Are we supposed to read the entire text of all the Ind AS as given in the new edition study mat? It comes for about 260 pages... Or is it enough to study the basics, carve in's, carve out's, comparisons etc?

In PM there are very few questions on these IND AS's...even in DS Rawat only comparisons, carve-in's and carve-out's are given.

There are two types of question papers :

1. When paper is from Practice Manual+RTP+ Past papers= Questions will be on the expected lines.

Here, questions will be from only differences, Carve in's and out's.

For coming few attempts( hopefully), ICAI will ask questions from these topics.

2. When paper is not from Practice Manual+RTP+ Past papers= Questions will be new.

Here, ICAI will ask practical questions(Numerical Questions).

When ICAI is done with theoritical questions, it will move to this level.

For paper 1, you can read differences, Carve in's and out's.

For paper 2,  you should study from the study material of ICAI's Certificate Course on International Financial Reporting Standards. Link : https://www.icai.org/post.H T M L?post_id=3562 . Dowload Model & Past Question papers . Make sure you consider Carve in's and out's.

Thankyou, but there are not much numerical problems in the IND AS's in Study Mat, This is just more burden for students if we have to study entire txt of IND AS as well as the OLD AS.

Please don't waste time in reading the texts of Indian GAAPs or Ind AS.

For Indian GAAPs : Just solve all the AS questions from the last 10 papers.

For Ind AS: First complete everything else and then, solve the past papers of ICAI's Certificate Course on International Financial Reporting Standards. But do consider carve in and out's.

Yes, indeed this is an extra burden for students.

But same is for Qualified CA's, we are dealing with both the types of standards. There is no way out.

Best of Luck !
